I need help to optimize a simple scene. As a start I took SizeByColor.max which comes with Box#3. In this example particle size changing regarding a reference plane color.
Now I have some additional changes:
1. I need to change particles color regarding plane color.
2. I need particles to stick to the plane because I need to rotate them in a space.
3. I need 1,000,000 particles per plane
4. I have to render 2000 frames
5. At the end I will have 23 similar particle systems which I need to render together (23,000,000 particles totaly).

I need to generate size and color for particles only once. And I need ability to rotate them in a space. I have attached scene what I created so far. The problem with this scene is that PF recalculates the system with each frame and it takes forever to update frame 1500 or 2000. How can I "freeze" or bake particles after they have been generated? I tried to use Cache Disk and Initial State operators without success.
Help me, please.

You need grayscale color of particles ?
you can bake particles into geometry
http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/pflow-baker
and than link them to plane or position contrain.
But with those quantity I don't know if that a good idea Smile

So other part what you need is quite simple :

Jbond, thank you for your help. Unfortunately, your solution for particles position and color doesn't work (or maybe I do something wrong). As you can see on screenshot below I have wrong particles placement on frame 2000. I deleted color part suboperators because they do not work either.

You need to change Integration step and you see the difference.
It's more precise but cost simulation time.
Baking maybe a better way but if script bake color from particles to obj.

Change color branch work in my scene but if you use Mapping object it's work too.

Try to use Lock\Bond. Put in first event.Seems its much better solution than low Integration step
